Hello! We are Ryan and Stephanie. We appreciate you taking the time to learn more about us. If you are a birth mother, we acknowledge that you are likely in the midst of a very confusing and difficult journey and we honor your courage and strength as you move forward. We want you to know that we have already begun praying for you and your baby. We are excited for the opportunity to grow our family and look forward to opening our home as a haven of joy, support, and unconditional love.
About us: We first met when we were 8-years-old in the second grade! Ryan had a big crush on Stephanie that year, but it would be quite a few more years before our romance would blossom. In college, Ryan was in a serious car accident that left him paralyzed. Stephanie was in massage school at the time, training to become a medical massage therapist. After hearing about the accident via mutual friends, she showed up to help Ryan with rehab after he returned home from the hospital. We quickly developed a friendship and began dating several years later. In 2016 we got married on the 7 year anniversary of Ryan’s car accident as a way of reclaiming what had previously been a difficult date as a day of celebration and redemption.
Ryan works as a financial advisor and loves helping families organize their finances and reach their goals. He is also the author of One Step Closer: How a Life-Altering Accident Led Me to Everything I Almost Missed, a memoir in which he recounts the journey following his car accident. Stephanie is a homemaker and elementary education student. She enjoys reading, art, gardening, and cooking. Together we love watching sports (especially the Bearcats and Bengals!), spending time outside, and hosting gatherings with friends.
We built our home in 2017 and live in the suburbs of Cincinnati on a street with lots of kids and wonderful neighbors. Some of those neighbors include Stephanie’s family, who live 5 doors down from us. Ryan’s family lives nearby as well. Both sides of our family are involved, loving, supportive people who are excited beyond belief to welcome a new baby into the family.
Our greatest passion as a couple is opening our home to others. We love hosting dinners, parties, cookouts, and small groups where we can be intentional about relationships and community. We deeply value creating a space for others to feel welcome, safe, and loved. While we are all about having fun and celebration, we are not unfamiliar with unexpected loss and suffering. Our goal is and has always been to view hardship with gratitude and perspective. We value compassion, humility, persistence, hard work, and living for a purpose beyond ourselves. As parents, we will strive to raise children who emulate these things.
Should you choose us to be your child’s parents, we would be honored to have you be a part of our lives as well. Whether through pictures and letters or face-to-face visits, we want to involve you in whatever capacity you feel most comfortable with.
